Now it exists in another dimension as a prison for the ghosts of murdered children and the students are trapped inside.

The runtime is the killer here. You cannot adapt a complex visual novel with multiple endings and deep character relationships into four episodes. It is impossible. This makes no sense because earlier he said Yuka died and dropped her slip in a pool of blood. Now he has it? Then he says he is using Yuuya's slip which belonged to a completely different victim. The rules change mid scene. In the games any slip works, it does not have to be yours. The anime invents this restriction to create drama.
Then during the transport Satoshi's arms detach from his body. He arrives back at Kisaragi Academy as just a pair of arms that fall onto the floor. Ayumi and Naomi cry over his dismembered limbs while the credits roll. It wants to be a tragic moment but it is mostly funny because the logic is so broken.
The paper slip mechanics are crucial to understanding why the ending fails. In the source material the slips are talismans that protect you from the dimension's effects. Losing them means you get trapped or die. The anime treats them like tickets on a train. Satoshi gives his to Naomi but somehow keeps one? Then he has Yuka's but uses someone else's? The writers clearly did not understand the rules they were adapting.
The final image implies the cycle continues because the curse is not really broken. But since we never learned the rules of the curse in this version the implication falls flat. It just feels like more violence for violence's sake.
